Boxes of red velvet packaging protecting the delicate taste of chocolates.
Cards expressing your undying love for that special someone and roses sprouting up on every street corner, it’s no wonder the emotion of “love is in the air” is abound during this season.
Yet, I wonder why we tend to magnify the feelings of love only ONE day out of a year?
Go to the mall and you find people shopping for that perfect gift that says “I love you” yet for the remaining 364 days many often forget to even say it!
But what if you are on the receiving end of that someone special’s love?
You wait all year long, hoping, praying and even a little coxing to hear those three magic words I Love You, only to be disappointed, or worse, feel unloved.
Why do we seek to find love ONLY from external sources?
Self Love Techniques
I don’t necessarily mean just a romantic love either.
What about one’s love for sports, or painting, cooking, hiking, anything which brings you joy, is also an external expression of love.
Yet we differentiate between emotional based love and the love we feel for our Self! When was the last time you looked in the mirror and said or thought, I Love You?
When was the last time you bought a gift for your Self out of an internal expression of love, just because you knew you deserved it? Why do we wait for others to shower us with the very love that resides within us?
I have heard recently that the measure of one’s wealth is in direct proportion to the degree in which one loves Self!
Think about this for just a moment. What does this mean?
What does money have to do with love?
When I say wealth, I do not mean just “money,” wealth encompasses a vast degree of all things in our life which makes life enjoyable. Such things might include, the beautiful flower garden you planted which now shares the sweetest fragrances, the children and grandchildren who visit you during the holidays, watching a butterfly flutter by as you were deep in thought.
Yet, wealth does also include ones state of financial affairs.
I invite you to take a look around your own life, see how your finances are stacking up at this time. If they are less than desirable, like many who have been affected by the economic state, then ask your Self, to what degree do you hold Love for your Self?
All change begins, first, from within.
As we learn to grow and begin to step into a state of Be-ing Love and leave behind the old way of having to Do things in which expresses Love for another, we can begin to create a shift from within.
How do we create this shift?
As we continue Be-ing Love, we begin to pay attention to all things around us, bringing us consciously into the present moment. It is in this moment that we can say I Love You!
So I ask you this, Why wait for someone to say I Love You one day out of the year when you can look into the mirror or even just say it out loud anytime you choose and share adoration for your Self?
Begin to initiate, today, a relationship with your Self.
When you commit to loving Self, right where you are, in this moment, things change. Embrace the moment, Embrace the change.
Be the Love you wish to See.
